Crowned for Christ:
A
Writing Community

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him," (James 1:12, NIV).

"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus," (Philippians 3:14, NIV).

Crown of Life is a "discipleship" ministry, which means we want to encourage people to be zealous for their faith--through writing!

Each of us have different calls on our life, a pulling inside of us by God that leads down a road where we can use our gifts and talents to honor Him. Those of us who like to write know both how rewarding and lonely it can be to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard). Sometimes it is hard to finish strong, the call behind James 1:12. This is why Crowned for Christ has both weekly meetings and events to encourage writers to "fight the good fight" and keep writing for Jesus (2 Timothy 4:7, NIV).

Whether you are new at writing or an experienced, published author, we have a place for you in our writing community. Come join us!

Weekly Zoom Groups

Crowned for Christ Writing Groups presently meet weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 10am PST - 12pm PST / 1pm EST - 3pm EST over Zoom. (We do take breaks over the holidays and during parts of the summer.)

Our format is as follows: 10:00am, login and say "Hello." At this time we each share what we will be working on. We do not provide writing prompts, you must have your own writing plan. People come and work on anything from newsletters, blogs, book chapters, to scholarly papers. While we are all Christian, our writing may or may not fall into that genre. We are a community of Christians supporting one another, but we write what we will!

Then, we mute ourselves and minimize our Zoom screens. From 10:10-11:50 we write. Oh the wonderful accountability of knowing someone else is there writing with you! It helps you to write even when you don't feel like it.

At 11:50am Melisa Berry unmutes and calls the group back. Now we share how it went for us, wish one another well, and log off by 12:00pm.

There is a suggested $20 a month donation to the ministry for participants.

If you are interested in participating in our Zoom Crowned for Christ Writing Group, please contact us for an application.

Testimonials

JW: "Not moving forward in that writing project or story you’d like to finish? Consider joining Melisa’s writing group. I have found it helpful to have a scheduled routine of writing - along with friends - to cheer me on as I work. Instead of just wishing I could find the time, it’s truly satisfying to make progress."

MB: "This group has helped me to create a writing habit. Knowing that others are there gives me the encouragement to stay focused and get my work done. It is also a way for me to have writing friends, people who understand what I am trying to do, sympathize with my struggle, and rejoice with my victories (small or large though they be!)."
